With unrivaled experience working with animals, Mary and Billie have developed an environment in the Wanaka region, that provides total care for your favourite pet.
Mary specialises in Aromatherapy for many types of animals, along with over 30 years working in canine behavior—from breeding and training, to rescuing and working with dogs.
Billy is an expert dog trainer with who genuinely cares about your dog’s well-being and is committed to using the most effective, humane training methods available. Find out more.
Set against the backdrop of the serene Hawea River, our expansive 17-acre retreat features top-notch facilities for daycare, training, boarding or a combination of these services. With both a secure exercise area and an agility playground, every moment spent with us ensures your dog develops in a safe environment. WanaK9 Adventure and Training Retreat is a premier facility designed to provide your dog with a fun, safe, and enriching experience. Nestled on 17 scenic acres along the beautiful Hawea River, our retreat offers a range of services tailored to meet your dog's unique needs.

Our Facility
Our retreat is set amidst stunning natural surroundings, offering a variety of environments for your dog to enjoy and explore:

A 1-acre secure exercise and training area featuring an engaging agility playground

A separate 4-acre secure paddock with agility playground

Access to 60 acres of lifestyle land on the banks of the Hawea River, perfect for both on-lead and off-lead exercises (at our discretion)

Purpose built kennels providing a safe resting space
We limit our capacity to just 4 dogs at a time to ensure individual attention and care. We also offer home stays upon approval and are happy to welcome puppies, as well as dogs and bitches.

She is passionate about addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, pain relief, stress, digestive issues, skin conditions, muscular and joint discomfort, and support for both pre- and post-surgery recovery.
